In 1969, a group of concerned citizens conceived the idea of a neighborhood community center on Glendale Hill. This center was to provide facilities for Christia, social, recreational, and educational programs. Through the combined efforts of many like minded people, land was purchased and the center was built. Furnishing and playground equipment were donated for the opening October 1969.
In 1978, the original building was enlarged to accommodate additional programs and a full time director was employed. The center is an ideal meeting palace for various civic and religious groups. To round out a complete center for the young and old, we have a tennis court, basketball court, picnic tables, barbecue grills, playground equipment and a lovely nature trail.
In 1993, Elanaor Douglas and Jack Bewley donated this building which had been on the Douglas farm on the banks of Youngers Creek for nearly 100 years. This building, which survived the 1937 flood was relocated to the Wesley Hilltop House location on a flatbed truck, provided by George Kauffeld and son Phillip. It was renovated and is now being used as the office building.
Till this day, Wesley Hilltop House remains a safe palace for children to play, be tutored, and get any other resources they may need. Wesley Hilltop house remains a pillar in the community for our youth that stays dedicated to ensuring the well being and success of young children until adulthood.
